Scultping the Shaman With Occam's Razor

LYRICS TO THE SONGS OF
"Sculpting The Shaman With Occam's Razor"

A Place For You
Through These Eyes
'Til The Blues Comes To Live With You
One More Day
Don't Look Back
Straight To The Heart
Halo And Horns
My Danger Queen
Mystery Garden
When Tomorrow Comes

A PLACE FOR YOU

A lonely color TV with the volume turned on high
Is screaming speculations on the present course of life
The square cathedral’s church bells announce another time
The morning dew is fading and the day just inches by

Chorus:
I’ve got a place for you in my heart
Your Home within me where you’ve been from the start
Right here beside me even when we’re apart
I’ve got a place for you in my Heart

Ticket stubs from Clubs and shows are lying on the floor
Broken cigarettes lie strewn amid the wine
Glasses form small mountains with a path drawn toward the door
My head is throbbing wildly and I’ve got you on my mind

Matches lie like stickmen on a threadbare carpet rug
Seeds and crumbs and ashes sift between the threads
Reeling from confusion but something more than that
Because I know I need you to retrace the life I’ve led

We couldn’t place the hours in their own respective time
For that would only make us a keeper of the clock
And I would rather light a torch and make a valid sign
Than be a worthless charlatan and tender of the flock

THROUGH THESE EYES

I spent the day last Sunday at the station, Waiting for a train that wouldn’t come
Looking for that hint of inspiration, To make you understand my wordless mind
I saw a couple sitting there waiting, Old Folks, patient, surely headed home
He smiled at her, his look was penetrating, He said this as their fingers intertwined

Chorus:
When I see you through these eyes I forget beauty
When I see you through these eyes I forget time
When I see you through these eyes I know I love you
I wish that you could see you through these eyes

Next morning as I sat and drank my coffee, Hiding from another hapless day
Waiting for the fog to lift before me, So the words could flow to tell you how I feel
I saw a waitress talking on the phone, Punctuating words she had to say
With little private gestures and hushed tones, I couldn’t help but hear these words revealed

Tonight I sat outside your door and wondered, Should I try to verbalize my soul?
Would I just confuse things if I blundered? Is there a way to demonstrate my heart?
How can I testify my feelings to you? I have a chance to realize my goal
The truth of these few words comes shining through, I should have said this to you from the start…

‘TIL THE BLUES COMES TO LIVE WITH YOU

Now come all you young men, listen to me,
I’ve got something to tell you and it ain’t easy
You’re not the only young man in this world
Who loves all the ladies and loves to be free

Chorus:
Hard times are coming, someday soon,
I know you don’t see it but I tell you it’s true
You think living alone is the worst old feeling,
‘Til the blues comes to live with you

You get up every morning, haul yourself to work
Hating every moment, the boss is a jerk
You go home in the evening, getting ready for some fun,
Go on out and try to find someone

One of these days you’ll find that girl
She’ll steal your heart and take over your world
You’ll want to be with her and ask her to stay,
You’ll know what love is when it comes your way

And when you find her you treat her right,
Stay close to home and keep her company at night
Cause you’re not the only man in this world
Who might want your lady to love and hold tight

ONE MORE DAY

Chorus:
I’ve got one more day to live, laugh and love
One more day to spend with you
I’ve got one more day to crowd, push and shove
Another day with all that to do!

Every morning when I wake up
I see your face while you stir from sleeping
Then I think that I’m still dreaming
I shouldn’t be here, in the presence of Angels…..

I see your eyes as they focus
You look at me and your smile comes easy
What are you thinking in that moment
Between the worlds of dream and reality

I watch you walk down the hallway
Now I know what they mean by “elegance”
I catch my breath as you turn toward me
And flash that grin that says “what are you doing?”

Will you forgive me if I tell you
I think that I’m completely in Love
It feels so right, like never before
I shouldn’t do that, in the presence of Angels

DON’T LOOK BACK

The Rolling Stones and princess phones and tiny, lacey nightgowns
A broken home, she lives alone and spends her evenings uptown
With dancing feet and fast retreat she soon escapes her boredom
A third class seat on a bus that creaks: she’s now a West Coast Woman

Chorus:
Don’t look back, Don’t look back
You won’t find it there
Don’t look back, Don’t look back
Or life will pass you unaware

With fashion shows and a mind that grows, she smells a velvet morning
The music flows within her soul with a beat that thrums forlornly
Of early life, a sanguine knife and chocolate covered bunnies
Of ballet tights and hot black lights and Sunday morning funnies

The Moody Blues and dancing shoes and tiny velour pillows
At twenty-two she soon outgrew the beauty of the willows
She’s searching for that secret door that opens up her mind
She’s on the floor at twenty-four, painting cryptic signs

The fire grows cold as time unfolds sometimes refusing callers
The age that scolds, The deepening holds a satin voice that falters
Enlightened cries and second tries to reach her mortal heaven
Her youth good-byes, the moonchild sighs at the age of forty-seven

Don’t look back, Don’t look back
I couldn’t find it there
Don’t look back, Don’t look back
Or life will pass you unaware

STRAIGHT TO THE HEART

(Dedicated to the chemistry of Chester’s Place and
The Steve Kimock Band)

Uptown, Saturday night, Chester’s Place is buzzin’
Last chance saloon tonight, you know the doors are closin’
My old friend Charlie is dialing it in, stage mics for magic
Anticipation slides to a peak and Fayetteville is hummin’

Chorus:
Straight to the Heart with a jazz bullet
Six-string magic machine
Straight to the Heart with a jazz bullet
Don’t have to think when I feel this way

I was here for Chesterween, what a night to remember
Freaks and Geeks inside and out sporting pinwheel eyeballs
Smiling Steve and the Kimock crew washed us down with music
I can’t think of a better way to say goodbye to the fall

Chester’s Place was home to us all when Steve came home to party
We laughed and cried and danced all night, even a birthday or two
With Tie-Dye Paul and Ira too, we rocked this building down
The muse is in the music, Steve, and the music is in you.

HALO AND HORNS

My mama did her best to raise a good boy
She tried her best to teach me right and wrong
But living life isn’t always easy choices
And being good doesn’t always make you strong

Don’t come ‘round here looking for a good man
Those kind are very seldom born
I’ll tell you right up front I’m nothing special
I’ve got both a halo and some horns

I grew up with a different generation
We were given all we’d ever need
I guess I just got used to expectations
I never really thought of it as greed

Don’t come ‘round here looking for a wise man
Those kind are very rarely born
I’ll tell you right up front I’m nothing special
I’ve got both a halo and some horns

I guess I know you're looking for the right man
Who for your love was born
I’ll tell you right up front I’m nothing special
I’ve got both a halo and some horns

I try my best to live a life of passion
To be a pointer to the Golden Rule
I know it doesn’t fit the modern fashion
A kind man isn’t always just a fool

Don’t come ‘round here looking for a bad man
Those kind are very seldom born
I’ll tell you right up front I’m nothing special
I’ve got both a halo and some horns

MY DANGER QUEEN

If I met you here today and you didn’t want to stay
Would you just stand up and say, "it’s time I went away – I’m leaving"?
Would you meet me face to face and put me in my place, summon all your grace
And tell me it’s a waste just being.

Or would you kiss me on my lips and make me lose my grip
As my fingertips slowly try to slip around you?
And touch me with your eyes before I realize the value of the prize
The moment that I tried surrounds you

Chorus:
You are my Danger Queen
The kind of woman who makes men dream
We had that love supreme
Then we let it slip away…

Would you be the kind to remember all the time
Now so far behind when our lives were fine just loving?
Or are you more like me, so eager to be free
That you cannot see the pain you aimed at me just going?

I know you couldn’t tell, though we knew each other well
Until the day I fell and you broke through my shell – you made me
But now you’ve sprung your snare and I’ve become aware
You’ve only go the bear what your conscience makes you hear -- you’re lucky

So don’t worry for my heart as I slowly fall apart
It was broken from the start, even though you played your part, I saw it
Just smile my way sometimes as the road of life unwinds
We had our happy times and I wouldn’t trade for mine, I loved you!

MYSTERY GARDEN

I’m planting a mystery garden
I want to walk where the stranger plants grow
As I look toward the horizon
I prepare to feel the chaos winds blow

I’m planting a mystery garden
Planting the seeds where enigma will bloom
Tending each row in the sunshine
My quest and my questions – no answers too soon

I’m planting a mystery garden
Hoping to see the exotic unfold
I’m not here to think but to feel it
To release, set free and surrender control

No, I don’t have any answers
I’m not even sure of the questions, you know
It’s not what you seek that matters
But whether you seek at all

I’m planting a mystery garden
I want to walk where the stranger plants grow
As I look past the horizon
I prepare to feel the chaos winds blow

WHEN TOMORROW COMES

I thought I knew the way I’d feel if you packed up your love and left for real
And left me standing at the window’s sill, watching that cab pull away
I’ve always felt it would be best to let you go without protest
Remembering that time when we first kissed, I wouldn’t make you stay
But that was yesterday, now I don’t feel that way
I don’t know what I’ll say, when tomorrow comes

Chorus
When tomorrow comes, will we be happy?
When tomorrow comes, will we be friends?
When tomorrow comes, will you still be here?
When tomorrow comes, will this all end?

I should have learned so long ago, the way I’d pay the debt I owe,
But somehow I just didn’t want anymore of this game I’d come to play
I’ve lived my life and sang my songs and looked for a place where I belonged
Even then I knew where I went wrong not listening to the things you say
But that was yesterday, now I don’t act that way
I don’t know what I’ll say, when tomorrow comes

And now I’ve tried to tell the truth and not require some kind of proof
If this is the path that you would choose, I hope your life goes well
But if you walk away again and turn your back on our old friends
I’m sure I’ll love you until the end, but only time will tell
But that was yesterday, And if I cry today
I don’t know what I’ll say, when tomorrow comes
